A lengthy, multi-agency investigation into a massive fight that disrupted Hersheypark’s opening weekend has resulted in charges against 55 individuals, local authorities announced.

The charges stem from a large-scale brawl involving groups of teenagers that broke out inside the amusement park at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Friday, April 3.

According to the Derry Township Police Department, the extensive investigation required a collaborative effort from numerous local and county entities to successfully identify the dozens of individuals involved.

“This investigation highlights the Derry Township Police Department’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of our residents, workers, and guests,” the police department said in a released statement. “Our department… takes these types of public safety issues seriously, investing significant time into cases like this one to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.”

Of the 55 people facing charges, police confirmed that the vast majority are minors. Only three suspects over the age of 18 were publicly identified by police: Omar Ibraham, 19; Jerome Ross, III, 18; and Quaneek Williams, 18, all residents of Harrisburg.

The remaining 52 suspects are being handled through the juvenile justice system.

The chaotic scene unfolded on the park’s opening night when multiple fights erupted simultaneously, forcing local police to call in reinforcements from neighboring departments to assist park security in regaining control. While three initial arrests were made the night of the incident and several others were ejected, the sheer scale of the melee prompted investigators to comb through park surveillance and eyewitness video over the following two months to track down the dozens of other participants.

In the wake of the incident, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts reemphasized its strict stance on guest conduct. Amanda Polyak, public relations manager for the organization, noted that park security and police acted swiftly to isolate and remove the disruptive parties.

“As safety is our top priority, Hersheypark has a zero-tolerance policy for behavior of this type,” Polyak said. “Those who do not abide by our policy will no longer be welcome on our property.”

Park officials reiterated that lifetime bans from the property will be enforced for those found to be involved in the disturbance.
