TSA PreCheck expedites a traveler’s airport security checkpoint screening process and allows passengers to leave on light outerwear and a belt; keep their laptop in its case; and keep their compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on when they use select TSA airport checkpoint screening lanes.
TSA PreCheck passengers are directed to separate, typically shorter, security lanes. According to the TSA, about 99% of TSA PreCheck passengers wait in security lanes 10 minutes or less. Additionally, children 17 and under can travel with an enrolled adult and use the PreCheck lane.
Over 200 airports and over 90 airlines participate in TSA PreCheck nationwide including Harrisburg International, Baltimore/Washington International, Philadelphia International and Washington Dulles International.
The AAA Central Penn TSA PreCheck enrollment locations include:
- AAA Central Penn Harrisburg Branch at 2301 Paxton Church Road in Harrisburg
- AAA Central Penn Lancaster Branch at 804 Estelle Drive in Lancaster
Enrollment is available to both AAA members and non-members but an appointment is required. Applicants must bring required documents proving identity and citizenship status. Fingerprints and a photograph are also required during in-person enrollment. The application fee is $78 and must be paid at the time of application by credit card, money order, company check or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) via U.S. mail that is valid for five years.
