CV School Board Calls Special Meeting to Discuss Cancellation of Assembly Featuring Gay Actor

Cumberland Valley School Board members will hold a special meeting Wednesday, April 24 to discuss the decision to cancel a school assembly featuring Maulik Pancholy.  The meeting is at 5 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Cumberland Valley High School.

CV Superintendent Mark Blanchard, along with nine other district leaders including assistant superintendents, the CFO and directors of various departments, issued a letter to faculty to express their “disappointment” with the board’s decision to cancel the May 22 assembly featuring the gay actor at Mountain View Middle School.

“Without a real opportunity for administration to answer questions and/or provide guidance, the board made a decision that has had significant ramifications for our school community, especially for our students and staff who are members of the LGBTQ+ community,” the district letter said.
