Adrienne Thoman is pumped. She’s putting on the finishing touches on the 2019 schedule for the Family Flicks Film Series at Central Penn College. She has films lined up from now until July, with more movies penciled in for the rest of the year, depending on availability.
As director of student engagement, she is well-versed with scheduling a multitude of events and activities for students, everything from arranging shuttle buses to Weis and Walmart to set up coffee and donut stations during finals week.
But this project is a little different. “Central Penn College is such an incredible asset for the entire community and this film series will allow more people––especially parents and their young children––to experience what we have to offer,” she says.
“Theis a great place to see a movie on the big screen. It’s warm and welcoming,” says Thoman, a six-year Central Penn employee. “And the price is right––free! There’s free popcorn, too.”
Debuting in December 2018, the Family Flicks Film Series shows recent kid-friendly films every third Saturday of the month in the Capital BlueCross Theatre. The series has already featured The House with a Clock in Its Walls and A Wrinkle in Time. Up next is Ralph Breaks the Internet, which screens on Saturday, March 16, 1–3 p.m.
Theis located on the college’s Summerdale campus, which is just a 10-minute drive from downtown Harrisburg.
