Former Gettysburg Mayor Chad Alan Carr appeared in Adams County Court today, as his criminal case advances following a judge’s decision to drop a portion of the charges against him.

A judge dismissed two charges against the 48 year old Carr. However, the former mayor still faces significant legal jeopardy. He will move forward to trial on one felony count of sexual assault and two misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors.

During the hearing, solicitation of minors charges against Carr were dismissed after it was determined the statute of limitations had run out.

Carr remains held in prison as the legal process continues. His return to Pennsylvania follows an arrest in Texas earlier this year, which occurred after additional victims came forward to investigators.

The court proceedings follow a turbulent year for Gettysburg’s local government. Carr served as the borough’s mayor for only two to three months before abruptly resigning in March 2026.

His resignation was prompted by Pennsylvania State Police filing initial charges against him.
