Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro officially launched his 2026 reelection campaign, framing his bid for a second term around a “get stuff done” mantra that has defined his first three years in office.
In the video on YouTube, Shapiro speaks about the work he has done in his first term and how he wants to continue his agenda over the next 4 years.
“We’ve gotten sh*t done all across our Commonwealth to make a real difference in people’s lives. As your governor, I’ve stopped the federal government from coming between you and your doctor. I’ve stood up for parents who should make health care decisions for their kids, not politicians. I’ve shut them down when they try and throw out our votes and overturn fair elections,” said Governor Josh Shapiro. “But there’s always more to do — more people to help, more Pennsylvanians to protect, more bridges to build.”
Shapiro enters the race in an unprecedented position of strength for a Pennsylvania incumbent. Earlier this week, his campaign reported a record-breaking $30 million on hand, the largest ever for a gubernatorial candidate heading into an election year.
Recent polling has also bolstered his campaign’s confidence. His approval rating currently hovers near 60%.
While Shapiro faces no significant primary opposition, the general election is expected to be a high-stakes showdown against State Treasurer Stacy Garrity.
Garrity, a retired Army Reserve colonel who has already received the formal endorsement of the Pennsylvania GOP, has positioned herself as a fiscal watchdog. In her own recent campaign stops, she has criticized Shapiro as being more focused on national headlines than local governance.
