Despite a looming strike vote from hundreds of essential workers, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) maintains that Hersheypark will transition to its daily summer operating schedule on May 21, 2026, as planned.

“Our opening plans are proceeding on schedule,” said Hersheypark spokesperson Quinn Bryner. “We value our long-standing relationship with our union-represented team members and remain committed to the bargaining process.”

The announcement comes during talks with Chocolate Workers Local 464, the union representing over 200 skilled maintenance tradespeople, including ride mechanics, electricians, and carpenters. On May 7, union members overwhelmingly rejected the company’s third “last, best, and final” contract offer, citing concerns over rising healthcare costs and wage increases.

The union has begun a multi-day voting process this week to determine whether to authorize a work stoppage. If a strike is called, it could impact more than just the roller coasters.

While the park is currently operating on a weekend-only schedule, the shift to seven-day operations on May 21 is a critical milestone for the regional economy. A strike could also threaten upcoming live events at the Giant Center and Hersheypark Stadium, as union stagehands and contractors often refuse to cross picket lines.

The company has advised guests that any changes to operating hours or park access will be communicated directly through official channels.
