This year and every year through 2027, roughly 4.1 million Americans will turn 65, according to a recent report from the Alliance for Lifetime Income.

It’s part of a record surge fueled by Baby Boomers, and about 19% of the country is now enrolled in the health insurance program for older Americans.

In Pennsylvania, reports healthinsurance.org, that figure swells to 22% of the population, or nearly 3 million people enrolled in Medicare. And thousands more Pennsylvanians are becoming eligible each year.

That means that as we hit the homestretch of another year, a lot of Pennsylvanians with a lot at stake navigate a lot of sometimes-confusing details that have a critical impact on their healthcare coverage. Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period began in October and runs through Dec. 7, a span during which those eligible for the program can enroll in new plans or make changes to their existing coverage.

Licensed representatives at Capital Blue Cross Connect health and wellness centers can help. Experts in Medicare, they offer visitors in-person guidance on Capital’s affordable and flexible Medicare Advantage plans, including a full rundown on Capital’s exciting new 2025 offerings.

Capital has been a leader in establishing consumer-friendly, walk-in health and wellness centers, and now has five Capital Blue Cross Connect centers across Central Pennsylvania (Enola, York, and Chambersburg) and the Lehigh Valley (Allentown and Center Valley), and invites anyone – regardless of whether or not they are Capital Blue Cross members – to come to the centers and enjoy their wide range of services.

“Medicare can be confusing,” said Mike Crnovic, Capital Blue Cross director of retail services. “Our licensed representatives at the Capital Blue Cross Connect centers are there to educate and assist people in making choices about their Medicare options, and can help them make informed decisions on their coverage.”
