Mechanicsburg native and Poison frontman Bret Michaels has been officially pulled off the road by his medical team, forcing the cancellation of the remainder of his 2026 “Live & Amplified” tour as he faces an extended, months-long recovery following complications from recent emergency surgery.
The announcement came shortly after Michaels attempted a high-energy comeback performance at The Bowl at Sugar Hill in Georgia. On-site medical professionals and paramedics determined immediately following the show that the 61-year-old musician was physically unfit to continue the grueling summer tour schedule.
His statement was posted on Michaels’ Facebook page:
In late July, Michaels underwent emergency surgery for a complicated, obstructing kidney stone following a concert in Washington state.
Physicians placed a ureteral stent to facilitate healing. However, managing the painful side effects alongside Michaels’ lifelong Type 1 diabetes and a lower back compression fracture created critical health risks.
Doctors initially ordered three to four weeks of strict bed rest, hydration management, and blood sugar monitoring, pausing all late-July and early-August dates.
The sudden shutdown impacts dozens of scheduled festival appearances and solo dates across North America, including high-profile stops at the Mountain Music Festival and the Champlain Valley Fair. Promoters have instructed ticket holders to seek refunds or await updates regarding potential 2027 tour rescheduled dates.
Michaels, known for his relentless touring work ethic, offered his apologies to fans, emphasizing through his team that he looks forward to returning to the stage fully healthy once cleared by his medical team.
