Mushroom Farmers of PA to Debut Shredded Port Nachos and Mushroom Jerky at 2022 PA Farm Show

Pennsylvania’s number one cash crop will be on display at the 2022 PA Farm Show and will feature 2 new food items, Shredded Port Nachos and Mushroom Jerky.

“The Farm Show is such a unique event. Visitors are able to immerse themselves in the mushroom industry—learning how mushrooms grow, seeing and touching them in the interactive Mushroom Booth, and of course, tasting them in a variety of delicious dishes at the Mushroom Food Booth,” said President, Mushroom Farmers of PA Rachel Roberts.

Shredded Port Nachos are made of shredded Portabella mushrooms in a barbeque sauce topped on crispy tortilla chips with cheese and drizzled with sour cream. Portabella Jerky is a meatless snack packed with nutrients and flavor.  You can also still get breaded mushrooms, blended mushroom burgers, mushroom salad and cream of mushroom soup.

At the Mushroom Booth area, you’ll be able to walk through the life cycle of a mushroom, from the compost wharf to the kitchen table. There will be interactive experiences, including a live mushroom growing display and information on the composting process, mushroom varieties, ways to use mushrooms in the kitchen, and more. Researchers from Penn State will also be on hand with microscopes where visitors can learn about the science behind mushrooms.

The PA Farm Show is the largest indoor agriculture exposition under one room in the country. It runs from January 8-January 15 at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.
