Penn State Health Named a 2024 Forbes ‘Best Employer for Diversity’

Penn State Health is again recognized as one of Forbes’ 500 “Best Employers for Diversity” in the United States, considered a testament to the health system’s commitment to increasing diversity and maintaining a positive, inclusive workplace.

One of 50 health and social service systems on the list, Penn State Health ranked 233rd out of the 500 organizations and companies on Forbes’ list.

“This is the fourth time Penn State Health has been named to the list, an honor that recognizes the dedication employees throughout the health system have shown in creating a welcoming environment, enhancing respect for both our colleagues and the patients we serve,” Lynette Chappell-Williams, vice president and chief diversity officer, said. “That translates to better health care for everyone.”

The recognition also supports recruitment of talent from diverse backgrounds.

The rankings are based on independent surveys of more than 170,000 U.S. employees from various fields working for companies that employ at least 1,000 people. Participants anonymously rate their employers’ approach to diversity, equity and inclusion in relation to factors such as age, gender, ethnicity, disability and sexual orientation. Evaluations are based on personal and public recommendations and key performance indicators related to best practices in diversity and inclusion.

Forbes also recognized Penn State Health as one of “America’s Best Employers by State” and “Best Employers for New Grads” in 2023.
