Based on affordability, safety, education and quality of life, Pennsylvania was ranked in a 2021 survey by WalletHub as one of the top 10 “best states to live in”. New Jersey took the top spot and New Mexico was ranked as the worst place to live.
The survey ranks states on a score based on 52 key indicators of livability. Each metric, such as the number of attractions, school system quality, access to public transportation and cost of living, is divided into five main categories:
- Education & Health
- Quality of Life
Each category is worth 20 points for a total of 100 points. Pennsylvania took the top 10 spot with a total of 59.21 points.
