A new poll released by Franklin & Marshall College’s Center for Opinion Research shows Democrat Janelle Stelson holding a narrow lead over Republican incumbent Rep. Scott Perry in the race for Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District ahead of the upcoming midterms.
According to survey results published by Franklin & Marshall College, 47% of registered voters in the district indicated they support or lean toward supporting Stelson, compared to 44% who back Perry. Approximately 9% of respondents remain undecided.
Stelson also leads Perry among independent voters, 61% to 29%, according to the poll.
The poll’s key findings noted, “The attitudes and preferences of registered voters living in Pennsylvania’s 7th and 10th Congressional Districts show patterns that are similar to state and national data that favor the Democratic candidates in congressional races. At the same time, the findings from our September poll reveal district-level differences that demonstrate how national patterns are filtered through local electoral dynamics.”
Because the poll carries a margin of error of plus or minus 5.7 percentage points, researchers note that the contest remains virtually deadlocked. Election analysts emphasize that with undecided voters still holding the balance, the race in Pennsylvania’s 10th District—which includes Dauphin County alongside portions of Cumberland and York counties—will be among the most closely watched congressional matchups this election season.
