Several roads were shut down in York County Monday morning for a procession honoring fallen West York Police Officer Andrew Duarte as his body was transported to the Lehigh Valley.

The procession will began around 7:15 a.m. at the York County Coroner’s Office, near the York County Prison, off the Mount Zion exit on Route 30, according to East Hempfield Chief Fire Official John Kottmyer.

The procession then moved east on Route 30 to Route 222 north. Police shut down Route 30 eastbound and Route 222 northbound as the procession neared, Kottmyer said.

Duarte was killed Saturday just days after his 30th birthday while responding to an active shooter at UPMC Memorial Hospital, where the gunman took hospital staff hostage and ultimately shot six people.
