State Rep. Mike Schlossberg, D-Lehigh, wants to make it easier for voters to update their voter registration signature.
Schlossberg said because many people register to vote at age 18 or as young adults, signatures can change over time. It the signature doesn’t match the one from many years ago, this could result in a person’s vote being thrown out.
“When you walk into the voting area, you are asked to sign the registration book next to your name,” Schlossberg said. “People’s signatures can change over time. My legislation would allow a voter to update a voter registration signature by submitting a voter registration application to the county board of elections.”
Schlossberg’s proposed legislation is included in a package of bills proposed by House Democratic lawmakers. They say it would make it easier for people to register to vote and cast a ballot, and restore faith in their election.
