State Rep. Jared Solomon, D-Phila., today said a senior fair will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 17 at the St. Thomas Orthodox Church, 1009 Unruh Ave.
“I’m looking forward to meeting with our seniors, and helping to connect them with the government agencies and representatives that can best serve them,” Solomon said. “It’s important to meet with our older residents and make sure that they are taking care of themselves, and have access to the resources and help they need for a fulfilling and quality life.”
Seniors will be able to talk to state and local government resource officials, representatives from hospitals and insurance companies, and local businesses and senior homes. Providers will hear directly from seniors what services would be most helpful to them, to better serve their members and patients.
Solomon said the Senior Fair will offer the option to get vaccinations before flu season goes into full effect, and provides more convenient access to government programs and services.
The event will feature:
- Light refreshments
- Free flu shots, with most insurance and Medicare cards
- Blood pressure screenings
- Medicine drop off to safely dispose of unused or expired medication
- Giveaways and much more!
