Harrisburg International Airport (MDT) has hit another historic aviation milestone, setting a new all-time monthly passenger record with 157,964 travelers passing through its terminal in June.

The record-breaking surge represents a 4% increase compared to June 2025 and surpasses the airport’s previous single-month high set just weeks earlier in May. The milestone marks MDT’s eighth record month over the past year and its second consecutive record-breaking month overall, signaling sustained momentum for Central Pennsylvania’s primary air hub.

Key Highlights of the Record Break

  • Record Passenger Volume: 157,964 total passengers in June—up 2.4% from May and 4% from June of last year.

  • Flight Operations Surge: 5,235 aircraft operations recorded in June (up 7% year-over-year), marking the busiest month for air traffic at MDT since October 2018.

  • Airline Expansion: Increased flight frequency and larger aircraft deployed by major carriers, including American, United, and Delta Air Lines.

Airport officials attribute the continued surge to a combination of strong regional travel demand and expanded routes by major airline partners to key global hubs such as Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, and Boston.

The momentum follows a record-setting year where the airport served more than 1.6 million passengers, surpassing pre-pandemic levels and establishing MDT as one of the fastest-growing regional airports in the area.
