The luck of the Irish is returning to the West Shore as New Cumberland prepares to host the 3rd Annual “Best St. Patrick’s Day Party Ever” on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
What began as a grassroots effort to bring foot traffic back to the borough’s historic downtown has quickly evolved into one of the region’s most anticipated spring festivals. Organizers from the New Cumberland Olde Towne Association expect record crowds this year, with festivities stretching across the 300 block of Bridge Street from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
This year’s celebration doubles as a “party with a purpose.” The event will serve as a fundraiser for the New Cumberland Police Department (NCPD) AED Fund, with a goal of raising $6,000 to equip four police cruisers with life-saving automated external defibrillators.
Everyone is also asked to bring a non perishable food item for a Food Drive on 3rd street by the stage and Baughman church grounds to collect donations.
Festival-goers can expect a packed schedule of entertainment and unique local traditions:
The 3rd Annual Pet Parade: Kicking off at 10:30 a.m., local furry friends will compete for prizes in their best green attire.
The “Blarney Stone” Tradition: For a small donation to the AED fundraiser, attendees can visit the corner of 3rd and Bridge Street to “Kiss the Blarney Stone” for good luck.
Live Music & Performance: Two stages will feature a rotating lineup including Shea Quinn and Friends, The Martini Brothers, and the Swisher Sweets, along with traditional bagpipers and Irish dancers throughout the afternoon.
The “Knees & Hair” Contests: In what has become a town favorite, local businesses will sponsor humorous competitions for the “Best Red Hair,” “Best Knees” (for kilt-wearers), and the “Biggest Leprechaun.”
