The Gregg Mace Foundation Launches to Provide Scholarships and Mentorship to Students

The family and friends of Gregg Mace proudly announce the launch of The Gregg Mace Foundation, an organization that aims to provide scholarships and mentoring to students interested in pursuing a career in sports media. The Gregg Mace Foundation seeks to provide a community built on Gregg’s teachings and standards for the past, present, and future of sports media.

“Always the consummate gentleman, no job was too small to be considered,” said Gregg’s wife, Caroline. “We felt this would be a small and modest way to celebrate Gregg. He was Central Pennsylvania sports. However, if you asked him about his career, he would say his accomplishments always took a backseat to the genuine joy he felt when covering local sporting events.”

The Gregg Mace Foundation, to be funded through donations and fundraising events, will provide the same level of care and mentorship that Gregg gave each and every one of his interns.

“Dad cared not just about how each of his interns succeeded as sportscasters, but also as people,” said Gregg’s son Kyle. “We want to continue to grow that compassion in the industry through not just awarding scholarships to worthy candidates, but helping guide young sportscasters, writers, journalists, and everything in between with the same passion dad had for mentoring his interns.”

The foundation will host fundraising events in Central Pennsylvania to fund scholarships. These events, to be announced in the coming months, will be ones that Gregg would have loved to attend or cover himself, with the goal of spreading the same joy he had being so involved in the community. “He felt so blessed to be doing a job he truly loved,” said Caroline. “We hope to recognize this by creating the foundation. Kyle and I have been overwhelmed by the love and support from everyone and their willingness to be involved in so many ways.”

Information on how to apply for the first scholarships will be announced in the fall. For more information on the foundation, please visit
