The Tunnel to Towers Foundation broke ground on an 8.5-acre tract of waterfront property along the Susquehanna River to build a Veterans Village encompassing a 64-unit apartment complex and comprehensive supportive service center, complemented by 20 Comfort Homes.
The Village will be located at 1109 South Front Street and is part of the Foundation’s Homeless Veteran Program. Completion date is expected to be summer of 2026.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was established by Frank Siller and his family in honor of his brother, Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter who tragically lost his life on September 11, 2001.
“So you can imagine this loss was so powerful as everybody’s loss was right, everybody’s lost. But when we found out what he did, we said we need to do something special to recognize the sacrifice that he made,” said Siller.
In 2022, The Foundation launched a new national campaign to eradicate homelessness in the veteran community. The program provides a stable home and a wide range of needed services to diagnose and solve the root causes of veteran homelessness, addressing emotional, financial and physical needs.
To date, the Foundation has provided housing assistance and access to supportive services to more than 10,000 veterans and their families through the Veterans Villages across the country. The Foundation believes no veteran should live on the streets of the nation they signed up to protect.
