Natural gas customers of UGI will see a smaller rate increase than originally expected this year, following a settlement with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC).
The PUC announced Thursday that it approved a rate case settlement with UGI Gas, which means the company won’t receive the full increase it initially requested.
Instead of a $110.4 million increase in base rate revenues, UGI’s revenue will now increase by $69.5 million, an 8.9% increase. This settlement includes a $1.25 adjustment to the monthly residential customer charge, a significant reduction from the $4.95 increase the company had proposed.
For a typical residential customer using about 72.9 hundred cubic feet of natural gas per month, this means their monthly bill will increase by 6.7%, from $103.57 to $110.51.
The new rates will go into effect on October 28, 2025.
UGI also agreed to implement PUC’s common application form, which allows income-eligible customers to apply and recertify for multiple programs through one form, and to increase its investments in certain programs designed for low-income customers.
UGI serves about 690,000 customers across 46 counties in Pennsylvania.
